Little Health Intervention Process

See below our process to becoming a Little Health client and what to expect at each step!

What to Expect

STEP 1: INITIAL CONTACT

--> FREE 15 Minute Call

At Little Health we believe in selecting the best services for your child and their needs. Our first contact is a FREE 15 minute call  where parents or carers can freely discuss their concerns and reasons for referral without the child present and at a time that is suitable for the parent/carer.

 Our Dietitian will then discuss the best intervention options for your child. For Example:

  • Do they required a Comprehensive Assessment, Review or Intervention Session?

--> SCHEDULING APPOINTMENT/S

  • Our Dietitian will contact parent/carer directly to arrange recommended appointment as discussed in 15 Minute Free Call.

  • A confirmation email will be sent including Policies and Service Agreement to be completed.

STEP 2: ASSESSMENT

Our Dietitian will completed a Comprehensive Dietetic Assessment which includes:

  • 1.5 Hours - 2 Hours Face-to-face or via Telehealth Session with parent/carer  +/- Child (*Session length may vary)

  • During the  assessment, a dietitian will collect the following:

  • Medical history and current medications
  • Social History
  • Anthropometric measurements (such as height, and weight)
  • Feeding History
  • Usual food intake and eating patterns
  • Mealtime Behaviours
  • Food allergies/intolerances
  • Nutrition-related concerns (e.g. Appetite, Bowel Motions etc)
  • Physical activity/ movement

STEP 3: REPORT WRITING

After your child's assessment the Dietitian will complete a report (depending o which assessment type - this may include a nutrient analysis*, nutrition diagnosis, and the impact on your child's development).

The report will include personalised nutrition recommendations to improve your child's health and wellbeing as well as including recommendations for ongoing intervention therapy if required.

*A nutrient analysis involves a dietitian collecting a food diary and analysing your child's intake against their macronutrient/ micronutrient requirements. This data then helps establish areas that your child needs to improve).

STEP 4: ONGOING THERAPY APPOINTMENTS

Following on from your initial appointment and/or an assessment the frequency of sessions will be discussed and scheduled.

  • NOTE: Frequency varies from child-to-child. Frequency of intervention depends on nutrition goals  of the child, current funding availability and/or clinician availability.

Intervention Sessions are 60 minutes in total

  • 45 Minute Session
  • 15 Minute Session Notes

Non Face-to-Face:

  • Resources will be created/provided to parents, teachers, and other relevant caregivers on an as needs basis.
  • Sourcing/Ordering Supplements - as needs basis
  • Where a multi-discipline team is working with your child, our Dietitian will aim to engage in regular collaboration to provide the best possible outcomes for your child - as needs basis

STEP 5: ADDITIONAL

REPORTS:

Dietetic reports can be provided on request for many different purposes and are billed at the standard hourly rate. Please let us know if you would like a report, giving as much notice as possible.

You can request reports for:

  • Report for your paediatrician/doctor prior to an upcoming appointment;

  • A summary report outlining your child’s needs, the services provided so far, progress towards goals and future recommendations.

  • NDIS Review Report prior to your child’s NDIS Review Meeting which will outline your child’s progress against their current NDIS Goals, recommendations for future NDIS Goals and further funding for therapy, consumable or other supports;

  • A comprehensive Dietetic assessment report which provides detailed information about your child’s nutrition needs and identifies and documents funding needs for NDIS plans.
